its name or "vizscan". Examples are "Xp100", "Xp200", and sometimes
"paprport". DO NOT delete the "Twain_32 folder" itself or "twain_32.dll"
file. Continue with the next step if the "twain_32" folder is not
present.

-
If "PaperPort" is the only subfolder, delete "ScanSoft". If you have
other subfolders, delete ONLY the "PaperPort" folder.
-
In Windows Explorer, locate the "C:\Paprport" folder if it is
available.
-
Open the "PaprPort" folder and copy the "Data" folder to another
location.
This Data folder contains your scans using older
versions of PaperPort. If you don't find the folder, it is
OK. You have a newer version of PaperPort and your files are
stored in the "My Documents" folder under "My Scansoft Documents".
-
Delete the "C:\PaprPort" folder once the "Data" folder has been
saved.

Reinstallation:
-
Make sure to shut off any system protection software such as "Norton Anti
Virus" or applications like "Clean Sweep" before you start the
installation.
-
You can now run the installation from the CD.
-
If you have a driver you downloaded and want to install it instead, then
cancel the "Visioneer License Agreement" during the installation. Do
Not connect the scanner and allow "Paperport" to finish its
installation. Install the driver you downloaded and connect the scanner when
asked.
-
When you reinstall the driver, it will ask for Registration. You cannot
skip this or it will cancel the driver installation. Complete the
registration form and click "Next". If you are on dial up, cancel the dialer
that will pop up. Sometimes it will take a long time (up to 1 min or
whatever you have your timeout set to.) to timeout when it
is trying to connect, so be patient. You will get a message that it was
not able to connect and it will finish the installation.
-
If you are having issues with the installation not finding files, try
disabling Hidden Files/Folders with the instructions below.
- Go to "Start" then "Run" and type "control folders". Click "OK".
- Go to "View" tab and in the "Advanced Settings" box look for "Hidden
files and folders"
- Place a check in "Show hidden files and folders" and also uncheck "Hide
protected operating system files".
-
The install will now ask you to connect the scanner:
- Make sure you see the message "Found New Hardware". If you do not see
this message then plug the scanner into another USB port untill you see the
message "Found New Hardware". Wait 10 seconds after you connect the scanner
before you click the "Finish" button.
- If you don’t see this message on any port, it means that your USB cannot
detect the hardware. If you do not get this message on any port, click
"Finish" anyway and shut down your PC. Once shut down, connect the scanner
to any USB port and turn the PC back on. You should now get the "Found New
Hardware" message and it will configure itself. Some models may require that
you complete a "Found New Hardware Wizard". Select the recommended option to
have it search for the best driver.
- If you already installed "PaperPort" and the driver from the CD, but you
want to install the latest driver, go to "Start" then "Control Panel"
then "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall "OneTouch", "Visioneer Scanner
Driver", or the model number of your scanner (Strobe xp100 for example).
Unplug your scanner. Then Reboot your PC and then run the installation with
the latest driver. "OneTouch" may require configuration the first time you
run it.
- Some chipsets such as "VIA rev 5" and "SiS" are known to have issues
detecting scanners.
Click
here for help with USB issues if you still can't get the scanner
detected.
- Make sure that you are installing directly to the computer and not
through a hub, since the hub may be the source of the problem. A hub also
has a chipset which can introduce another point of failure.
- Although you may have had multiple scanners on your PC at one time, we
are not able to provide support for this configuration. We are not familiar
with other manufacturers software so trying to make it all work may not be
possible since the applications may compete for the same
resources.
-
In "Paperport" make sure that you have the proper source (scanner)
selected.
-
In Paperport 7 or below:
- Go to "File" then "Select Source".
- Click on "Scan Manager" and then click the "Select" button.
- In Paperport 8 or above:
- Click on the "Scan" button at the top.
- A new panel will appear to the left with another Scan button and a
Scanner section that has a drop down to select your scanner.
- Select "Scan Manager" and try scanning.
-
You’re Done.
